Shahab, 59 is a Chartered Secretary and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators, London .

He started his career in banking in 1971, before joining an auditing firm in 1973.From there he went on to the Urban Development Authority (UDA) for 4 years.

He then worked as Group Company Secretary in Syarikat Pemodalan Kebangsaan Berhad (SPK), an investment holding company. At one phase, he was seconded as Group General Manager of a subsidiary while retaining his Group Secretary’s post. He was also secretary to a PLC in the Group. His last 2 years following that were as General Manager of the Construction and Engineering Division.

After 16 years in SPK, he joined another PLC and served for 9 years till retirement in 2006.

Shahab was a Council member of the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) between 1992-2007. He was president of the Institute in 2000 and 2001. He now sits on their Audit Committee and Membership Committee and previously also on the Law Review Task Force, Corporate Communications Committee and the Strategic Planning Task Force.

He is on the Investigation Panel of the Disciplinary Committee of the Bar Council of Malaya and he sits on SIRIM’s board of directors. Shahab is a certified business coach and has a passionate interest in corporate governance and corporate directorship.
